Consultant Healthcare Benefits:

At Expedition Executive, we truly value our consultants and recognize the stress that is associated with choosing consulting versus being a full-time employee. If you choose to be a consultant through us, we offer you a choice of four ACA compliant medical plans where we pay 50% of your premium, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and a matching 401k plan. Please contact your recruiter for specifics.

Interview Preparation:

When preparing for your interview make sure to do your homework! Research the company, Google the company, search out any new press releases and research their stock if appropriate. We also recommend writing down about a dozen questions prior to your interview. Writing them down pre-interview helps build your confidence in the interview, shows you are prepared and taking this seriously, and helps you fully engage in the interview instead of mentally filing away and tagging questions to be asked at the end. You know they are going to ask you if you have any questions, pulling out a prepared list gives a great impression! We recommend at least a dozen as half will probably be answered anyway. Stay away from what we call "what's in it for me" questions such as benefits, vacation, pay, overtime, etc. All of those are very important to make a decision but let your recruiter get those answers for you, you just focus on the opportunity.

Resignation Process:

Counteroffers: This is a classic article from the WSJ that is as true as ever.  I'd highly recommend you read it if you are considering accepting a counteroffer.  Alternatively, type "counteroffer" into Google.  You'll have to read through multiple pages to find one that recommends it.  Enjoy! Resignations: Resignations are always a hard thing to do. You have scrutinized the new opportunity, run the numbers, consulted friends and family and have made the decision on your terms, now comes the act of resigning. Be firm in your resolve and don't waiver. Avoid the pitfalls of, "let's go to lunch to talk about it", or the proverbial carrot, "I was just about to tell you about a raise and the plans we had". All these are tactics to change the dialogue from your terms to theirs (please see counteroffers). Be respectful, avoid any negativity about your position, you'll be gone in two weeks, there's no point in burning any unnecessary bridges. Stay resolute and let them know this is the best decision for you AND your family and to respect your decision as final.

Resignation Letters: These are sometimes difficult but don't over think it, make it short and sweet. The keys to remember are dates, two weeks notice, thank them for the opportunity and that your decision if final. Please Click Here for a sample resignation letter.
